This total eclipse of the sun occurred on March 29, 2006, and the path of totality passed over the Egypt-Libya border, then over the Mediterranean Sea and into Turkey (through Cappadocia and Sivas). Sivas, Turkey was a fortunate city, as both the 1999 and 2006 total eclipses passed directly over it! This was a very fine eclipse and was successfully observed in clear skies aboard the cruise ship Monarch south of the Isle of Rhodes.
