The portion of a Tibet tour from Shigatse to Lhasa (or vice versa) contains a wealth of contacts with Tibetan culture. After Lhasa, Shigatse is the second largest city in Tibet. The trip passes through many Tibetan villages and mountain hamlets, as well as numerous renowned monasteries. Also encountered are a number of high mountain passes and beautiful canyons containing roaring mountain rivers.
